MIGRATION TO SAP S/4HANA — NEW GENERATION ERP

In 7 years your ERP will become obsolete and you will have to invest in development of the new one.
  • SAP S/4HANA will be supported for another 20 years

THE REASON YOU HAVE TO MIGRATE TO SAP S/4HANA NOW

Technology is constantly developing

SAP S/4HANA is a new generation of ERP adapting to requirements of business community and making it possible for you to reach a new level of development.
In 7 years, the system, which is obsolete today, will be unable to perform the business processes you need, and you will still have to give it up.
It will be increasingly difficult to adapt the old IT infrastructure to new challenges and requirements of business. And maintaining the outdated ERP will be costly.

Users need a new design and modern architecture

Outdated ERP systems cannot withstand modern development, they are unable to support new digital capabilities. SAP ERP has been used for a long time, so it has massive databases. This, in turn, leads to slow report generating and inability to perform some functions. Contemporary business needs modernization and constant inflow of new information, which outdated systems simply cannot cope with.

SAP S/4HANA MIGRATION SCENARIOS

There are several ways to migrate to SAP S/4HANA to suit the needs of your business
SCENARIO 1
Greenfield Approach
New implementation of SAP S/4HANA

New system means new opportunities. We reengineer and simplify processes. We perform initial data download and delete the old landscape.

SAP S/4HANA is deployed in the cloud or locally.

More
SCENARIO 2
Brownfield Approach
Conversion of SAP ERP system into SAP S/4HANA

System conversion means that you are transferring data from an existing SAP ERP system to SAP S/4HANA. We activate basic functions necessary for smooth operation of the enterprise and gradually implement other SAP S/4HANA innovations.

SAP S/4HANA is deployed locally.

More
SCENARIO 3
Hybrid Approach
Selective data transfer to SAP S/4HANA

We create a new system based on the Greenfield scenario. We transfer parts of functionality from the old system according to the Brownfield Approach scenario. This helps us keep your company’s successful innovative developments during the project.

SAP S/4HANA is deployed in the cloud or locally.

MIGRATION PROJECT EVALUATION

The evaluation will help choose the necessary migration scenario

We propose to conduct a technical, functional and strategic evaluation of the company’s IT structure for the SAP S/4HANA migration project. We analyse systems in detail, find hidden risks and barriers to migration, and estimate budgets and deadlines. We determine how migration to SAP S/4HANA will improve the business and help it in digital transformation.

The assessment will help optimize the migration timeline and budget.

As a result of the evaluation, you get:

  • Description of risks and their consequences.
  • Detailed description of composition and content of migration work.
  • List of objects that can be converted automatically.
  • List of improvements and recommendations for activating S/4HANA innovations.
  • Estimation of budget and terms of migration project taking into account risk analysis.
  • Migration options with advantages and disadvantages of each of them.
How long does it take for migration on SAP S/4HANA?

For medium-sized businesses (up to 200 users) about 3-4 months, for large — 7 months and more (depending on size of the system).

What determines the cost of technical evaluation service?

FIVE STAGES OF TECHNICAL EVALUATION

start assessment

Preparation for migration to SAP S/4HANA takes from 7 months to a year

Analysis of the existing IT system

At this stage, it is important to identify system objects that are not in use. To do this, the ABAP Call Monitor (SCMON) is activated, which helps determine which SAP ERP elements are not used, so you do not need to transfer them.

More

Determination of compatibility with S/4HANA

A number of utilities are launched in the existing landscape to determine compatibility of SAP ERP with S/4HANA (Conversion Pre-check), which checks add-ons, business solutions, dependent applications.

More

Analysis of transformation scope

At this stage, the whole list of errors and inconsistencies is divided into clusters. The amount of unused code are taken into account, errors in data and the companies’ in-house development objects are analysed. A proposal is also prepared on the scope of automatic conversions and the tools involved.

More

Analysis of S/4HANA improvements scope

At this stage, capabilities and feasibility of activating SAP S/4HANA innovations (Simplification List) — expanding ecosystem capabilities — are analysed and functionality that needs to be transferred to SAP S/4HANA is finally verified.

More

Development of project documentation

At this stage, you select the option of switching to S/4HANA based on the first 4 stages. Project documentation for migration project is developed. Design specifications are defined.

WE IMPLEMENT SAP S/4HANA USING SAP ACTIVATE METHODOLOGY

  • SAP ACTIVATE – adapts to a specific industry, minimizes project risks and reduces overall implementation costs

SAP ACTIVATE METHODOLOGY

  • is a flexible module structure intended to implement SAP solutions in the company’s business processes;
  • accelerates SAP S/4HANA implementation throughout the life cycle of the client’s project: from the introduction stage to integration processes, configuration procedure and next generation methodology;
  • supports various SAP S/4HANA migration scenarios – new implementation, system conversion and landscape transformation;
  • accelerates the initial implementation of SAP S/4HANA and further innovations.

CLIENT PROJECT LIFE CYCLE ACCORDING TO METHODOLOGY

1 Stage
Assessment
  • analysis of existing business systems and landscape planning of interaction with the implemented SAP solution,
  • analysis of key business processes,
  • analysis of the scope of implementation,
  • development of specification of the implementation project.
1 Stage
Assessment

We analyse the current business requirements that need to be implemented in the automation process and select a product from the SAP portfolio that will fit best to achieve business goals. Additionally, we conduct functional and strategic assessment. We estimate the budget, priorities and terms taking into account business needs.

2 Stage
Preparation
  • form a relevant team involving experts from our side and the customer’s side,
  • take all arrangements for our teams to interact,
  • analyse the project for possible risks and form the register of risks,
  • prepare the project charter that details the tasks for each of the stages and the outcome.
2 Stage
Preparation

Based on the assessment, we identify resources needed to implement the project, taking into account the specifics of the industry, tasks and business objectives, the scope of work.

3 Stage
Analysis
  • research and analysis of the customer’s current business processes, which should be covered by the SAP solutions implementation project,
  • preparation of a description of AS-IS business processes in BPMN notation,
  • when the business needs of AS-IS processes are identified, re-engineering can be performed. The target process (To-Be BPMN) is described within the project implementation, which makes it possible for the business to clearly form an understanding of the process and expectations after the implementation project,
  • hold workshops to clarify the requirements and implementation techniques in order to achieve the business objectives of the project,
  • form FIT&GAP analysis of requirements to identify priorities and sequencing together with the customer.
3 Stage
Analysis

Together with the customer we analyse As-Is processes and describe them in BPMN notation, after which all parties equally understand the details of the processes involved in the project. Along with the analysis, we find hidden risks and possible barriers to implementation and together with the customer adopt an effective strategy for further implementation.

4 Stage
Implementation
  • implementation and adjustment of agreed requirements and business processes,
  • system testing (functional, integration, security testing, user testing (UAT)),
  • smoothing out of processes, elimination of functional deficit, development of manuals for end users.
4 Stage
Implementation

At this stage, our team implements all the processes agreed with the customer in the previous stages. We do all the settings followed by the testing (functionality, integration, security testing, user acceptance test) to make sure that the planned functionality that we have implemented works smooth in accordance with business requirements.

*Implementation means the possibility to implement the project according to both the classic Waterfall and Agile SAP ACTIVATE methodology using sprints.

5 Stage
Deployment
  • training of key users and system administrators,
  • preparation of a detailed plan to switch to productive operation,
  • transfer of decisions to a productive landscape,
  • scaling the solution within the scope of the project.
5 Stage
Deployment

Our team monitors the correct transmission and operation of the solution. The customer starts working in the new system, usually starting from a new financial or calendar year. We support decisions and help the customer in case of questions.

6 Stage
Go-live
  • enhanced support at the beginning of industrial operation,
  • identifying additional requirements that can improve the experience of using embedded systems.
6 Stage
Go-live

At this stage, our participation is to correct errors, support users and ensure full switching to production. The launching of the new system is fully under out control. At the start-up stage, we also update the project documentation should there be any changes.
